On Saturday, December 6th, W7AQ has been asked to participate in a statewide communications exercise by the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management! The exercise is called Operation Cascade Blackout. There's two ways to participate:
- Help build and antenna and make a contact with the EOC. We plan to have two teams, one each to make a 2m (VHF) and 80m (HF) antenna.
- Contact the EOC from home or your location.
The EOC will ask you questions to generate a mock situation report (sitrep). They've asked for people to be ready to share a lat/long location (decimal degrees); nearest cross roads are fine if you don't want to be precise.
Amateur participation is restricted to Saturday from 10am-2pm. But you'll hear other activities on the Eagle Peak (146.66 MHz) and other repeaters on Friday and Saturday.
Standby for more details!
